Dan Ryckert's Gamerscore is now over 98,000, Jeff Cork just hit the
100,000 mark, and executive editor Andrew Reiner is approaching an
astounding 140,000 and loves it. But I found one gamer who puts all three of them to shame...and then some.
Thanks to some changes to the NPD Group's monthly sales figure reports, we know a lot less information than usual, but Halo Reach, Madden NFL 11, and the Xbox 360 are clear winners for the month of September.
Earlier this week,
I reported on allegations from a cheat-focused website that Blizzard
was banning players who used hacks for StarCraft II in single-player
modes. Blizzard has issued an official response to this story.
Dedicated WOW players won't need to wait until December to begin seeing
changes in Azeroth. Today Blizzard has released the first of a
series of major patches that will add in some of the changes Cataclysm
is bringing to the game.
Most gamers know Kevin Butler from his hilarious performances in the
recent string of Sony commercials. But the actor who portrays Butler,
Jerry Lambert, has actually been doing weird, goofy commercials for a
while now.
If you thought Blizzard's recent Battle.net bans only affected players cheating in the game's
online multiplayer mode, think again. Apparently some players have been
banned because they used hacks in single-player encounters.
A few weeks ago,
the NPD Group released a study stating that in the first half of 2010
digital sales of PC games were higher than physical sales. Those
numbers were clarified a little bit today during a GDC Online panel.
During his GDC Online keynote, Bungie's Joe Staten dropped a small but possibly meaningful hint at Bungie's next
game and its first attempt at something outside of the Halo franchise
since beginning the series in 2001.
Among various other smaller studios, ZeniMax owns Bethesda Softworks,
id Software, and most recently Arkane Studios. A new round of funding
suggests that they're only going to get bigger.
We already had some pretty strong hints
that an HD collection of the PlayStation 2-era Prince of Persia games
was on the way, but now it has been confirmed by Ubisoft...for Europe
at least.
