Cairn is more than a remarkably gripping mountain-climbing game. It's also a deeply affecting narrative of anguish, loss, and the steep cost of obsession.
Some elements of the gameplay haven’t aged well, but they are ultimately outweighed by the opportunity to experience this refined new vision for Oddworld and its inhabitants.
This puzzle/adventure title highlights the horrors faced by normal people in extraordinary circumstances – but it’s a better history lesson than a game.
