SteamWorld Heist
Two Swedish indie developers have teamed up to deliver a 40-minute gameplay video of both Zombie Vikings from Zoink Games and SteamWorld Heist from Image & Form. Klaus Lyngeled and Brjánn Sigurgeirsson respectively are the leads of these games, and they took the time to visit each other’s’ offices (which are apparently just a ferry ride away from one another). Take a look:

Sigurgeirsson walked Lyngeled through the same demo that was at PAX East this year, but with some insightful commentary that expands on our brief, previous look at the game. SteamWorld Heist is XCOM in two-dimensions, complete with a cover system and similar move-and-shoot tactics. Even the blue and orange movement lines are the same. Robots are also quite fond of hats according to Sigurgeirsson. Accurate players can even shoot the hats off their enemies and equip them. The details are still a bit nebulous, but there looks to be a large emphasis on this mechanic.
Zombie Vikings is a 2.5-dimensional beat-em-up with four-player cooperative gameplay, massive bosses, and a sharp sense of humor. The art style looks like a gorgeous pop-up book. Animations are smooth, so the game looks great even in the heat of the chaotic combat.
SteamWorld Heist will release this fall for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC via Steam, 3DS, and Vita. Zombie Vikings is also slated for release this fall, on PCs via Steam and PlayStation 4.
