Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham hits stores next week, and the developers at TT Games have released a pair of videos highlighting its characters and locations. Check out the clips to see oddities including Polka-Dot Man and Condiment King in action (or at least their version of it), as well as behind-the-scenes insight on the game's creation.
The videos feature commentary from game director Arthur Parsons, executive producer Phill Ring, and a host of other artists, animators, and Lego builders. The first video (below) shows how the team is pulling from DC's extensive lineup to generate Lego Batman 3's roster of 150-plus characters. In addition to the usual A-list heroes we've come to expect, you'll see appearances from characters who might charitably be referred to as bench warmers. If Lego Marvel Super Heroes was any indication, those lesser-known faces will still be a riot to play with.

The second video focuses on the game's environments and hub worlds. As Lego Batman 3's title says, players will be going beyond Gotham in the game. Instead, they'll be able to explore a variety of hubs including the Bat Cave, the Justice League's Watchtower, the moon, and Oa. There are also a few details on the handheld versions of the game, which will also include hub worlds. According to Parsons, one of the challenges that the team has faced has been balancing the needs of two audiences: younger players, who will check out any game with Lego in the title, and older comics fans who might be drawn to Lego Batman 3 because of its ties to the DC universe.
