Blizzard Unveils Overwatch: Uprising Event With New Trailers And Screens

by Jordan Leendertsen on Apr 11, 2017 at 01:38 PM

After days of leaks and teases, Blizzard has finally unleashed Overwatch's Uprising event. Revolving around an Omnic uprising in King's Row 7 years ago in Overwatch lore, players will be able to take part in a new cooperative brawl, as well as grab more than 100 pieces of new loot for a limited time starting today. We got our first look at Uprising yesterday via a leaked French trailer, which you can take a look at right here. You can check out the introduction trailer for the event down below.

The new brawl, fittingly titled "Uprising", sees players fighting through King's Row as Tracer, Reinhardt, Torbjorn, and Mercy in an effort to liberate the area from an extremist Omnic group called Null Sector. Similar to Junkenstein's Revenge, it is a PvE mode, though it is supposedly longer, taking place over a much bigger area. This marks the first time an event has centered on a major plot point in Overwatch lore, rather than a seasonal holiday or real-world event.

The Uprising brawl is also available to play with any other hero in a separate, non-canon mode. You can get a look at the Origins trailer, which further details the story surrounding the King's Row Uprising, down below.

Blizzard has also released a short developer video detailing the creative process behind Uprising, and explaining some of the new modes available. You can watch it below.

For a more detailed look at some of the new skins and loot available during the new event, you can check out the gallery down below. Overwatch's last major update came last month in the form of new hero Orisa, which you can read more about here.
