Bungie Details How Much More Vault Space Next Destiny Update Will Bring (And When)
The next Destiny update isn’t too far off. Bungie said today that we should expect 1.1.2 (and all its improvements) to arrive some time in April. That’s an important benchmark, because House of Wolves (the next expansion) won’t arrive until after.
Bungie will be addressing one of the big complaints that players with multiple characters have: vault space. Currently, players can store 20 each of armor pieces, weapons, and general items.
After the update, armor and general items increase to 24. Weapons get the biggest boost, as you’ll be able to store 36. Bungie says that another fix to increase armor and general items will be coming some time down the line.
The side effect of increased vault space only impacts the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Once 1.1.2 hits, memory constraints mean that you’ll no longer be able to compare items in the Vault screen. The current-gen versions are unaffected.
Also note that while the PlayStation 4 now supports suspend/resume, Destiny will not yet. Once 1.1.2 hits, you’ll be able to drift in orbit indefinitely and come back to find your ship where you left it.

Our Take
There are currently 25 exotic weapons (with more coming in House of Wolves), and many serious players have duplicate Ice Breakers and Gjallarhorns. The need for this is less severe thanks to a recent update to the companion app, but I suspect some players are still going to feel constrained.
The added space is welcome, but it’s clear we’re going to need another boost some time in the future. Whether the last-gen versions can handle that at all seems suspect.
