Six Million PlayStation 4s Sold Since Launch
Sony has crossed the next benchmark in the PlayStation 4 life cycle. The company has announced that over 6 million PlayStation 4 units have been sold worldwide since the North American launch on November 15.
Marketing vice president John Koller also ran down supporting statistics that give us a look at how people are using their consoles. Over 90 percent of PlayStation 4s are connected online, which has in turn enabled 3.6 million broadcasts over the platform’s Twitch app.
Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House promised 5 million PlayStation 4 units sold by March 31, 2014. The company’s gaming unit has shown growth since last year, despite the overall financial situation for the firm dipping. Sony is projecting a $1.1 billion loss for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014.

Our Take
This is good news, and with Infamous arriving this month, I expect the number to jump once again. The rate of PlayStation 4 sales is, expectedly, slowing down, but I expect we’ll see spikes throughout the year leading into a solid holiday 2014.
