Activision has announced that it's publishing a new game in the Ice Age franchise, based on the pirate-themed Ice: Age: Continental Drift movie that's coming to theaters this July. Ice Age: Continental Drift — Arctic Games features a variety of sports-themed minigames and motion controls.

Warning: Pun incoming

"Anticipating the summer release of the new Ice Age movie, we're taking mammoth measures to give gamers of all ages an action packed Ice Age experience that parallels the clever and inventive qualities of the franchise," said David Oxford, executive vice president, Activision.  "It's important to give players the freedom to interact with these beloved characters in a motion-based video game for players of all ages."

In the game, the herd encounters a group of pirates and a secret treasure. To settle those pesky ownership rights, the two factions decide to compete in a variety of events including ski jumping, ice smashing, and glacier hopping. Ice Age: Continental Drift — Arctic Games is being developed by Behavior Interactive and is set for release on the Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Xbox 360 Kinect this summer.
