Bungie Enters Social Media Seas With Newest Game
The fictional game Pimps at Sea has been an in-joke in the Bungie community for quite a while now, and April Fools' Day jokes based on the Sid Meier's Pirates! parody have become an annual tradition. Guess what? It's April Fools' Day today, and Bungie has announced its latest title, the Facebook game PimpsVille.
As described on Bungie.net, PimpsVille is a game that lets players manage stables of wenches and allies while avoiding the law. If you work hard enough, you can attain the coveted rank of Pimp Daddy.
Before we dig into the multimedia assault, here’s COO and trans-media marketing guru, Pete Parsons, to help us set the stage:
“You know, for the past twenty years Bungie has prided itself by only making kick ass games that we want to play, but I was talking to Mark Zuckerberg yesterday – who just so happens to be a really close friend of mine – and he said Facebook has something like 500 million users. I’m thinking if we can get one dollar from every one of those guys, we can easily make a billion dollars,” offered Bungie COO Pete Parsons by way of explanation.
It looks like game of the year material already, though they may want to reconsider that name.
