Bungie Resets 15,000 Users’ Halo: Reach Wallets
Not to be outdone by Blizzard’s recent StarCraft II bans, Bungie has cleaned a little house, too. The in-game wallets of about 15,000 Halo: Reach players are a little lighter now after the developer has reset their credit counts.
In a post on Bungie.net, moderator Ferrex explained why it happened and warned that it could happen again.
“A more comprehensive pass will be occuring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof,” wrote Ferrex. “If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.”
The exploit allowed users to accrue large amounts of credits quickly, through the use of intentional disconnects. As Bungie’s actions might serve as an indication that this practice is frowned on. Continue at your own peril.
