New PlayStation Plus Info; Europe Gets LittleBigPlanet With Subscription
Last week at E3, Sony announced their long-rumored PlayStation Network subscription program, PlayStation Plus. Now that the cat's out of the bag, the company has started providing more information on the service, and it looks to be offering a few pretty sweet bonuses.
Starting off with the details from the North American PlayStation Blog, the first full PSN game that subscribers will get at launch is Wipeout HD. PSP Minis such as Field Runners and Age of Zombies will be available, as will the PS1 racer Rally Cross. Plus subscribers will also be able to download a "full game trial" of Infamous, which will allow gamers to play an hour of the game before deciding whether or not to purchase it.
The post reiterates that though the full free games available through Plus will not be playable if you end your subscription, any games you pay for through Plus discounts will remain yours for good. Plus service will also push updates to your PS3, allowing you to download game or system patches while the console is powered off.
That all sounds good, but the European PlayStation Blog has an even more enticing bit of news: Apparently European PlayStation owners who sign up for a full year subscription to PlayStation Plus will receive a free download of LittleBigPlanet (not tied to the subscription). Sony representatives have confirmed that this deal is for Europe only, but North American subscribers also get a bonus: Sign up for a year, and you get an extra three months added on (i.e. 15 months for the price of 12).
The European PlayStation Blog also mentions that the free PSN game for the second month will be Zen Pinball. Europe apparently will not get the full game trial for Infamous during the first month, so the free games offered may not be the same across territories.
PlayStation Plus launches next week on June 29. You'll be able to subscribe for three months for $17.99 or a full year for $49.99.
Are you happy with the bonuses being offered in North America, or would you rather receive LittleBigPlanet for free when you subscribe?
