New Info On Zelda: Skyward Sword's Story
We've written plenty about how the latest Legend of Zelda, Skyward Sword, controls on the E3 show floor, but the first details about the game's story and world were just revealed at a Nintendo roundtable Q&A session.
Eiji Aonuma, the director of Skyward Sword as well as most Zelda games from Ocarina of Time on, gave some early information about Skyward Sword's story. In this game, Link is actually a native of a floating island known as Skyloft. Link is raised never knowing of a world other than his home above the clouds, but an event happens that sends him on a journey into the new and dangerous lands below.
Aonuma mentioned several times that the concept of the sky will play an important role in Skyward Sword. Link will regularly travel back and forth between Skyloft and the land below.
Also, in case it wasn't totally obvious already, the Skyward Sword in the title (and in Link's hand in the E3 demo) is the Master Sword. The game will show how the Skyward Sword becomes the Master Sword.
Aonuma didn't want to give away too much of the story, so further details will have to wait, but it will be interesting to see this new interpretation of Link's journeys through the lands of Hyrule (if it's even called Hyrule this time around).
