Tekken 6 Players Can Fight Their Button-Mashing Ghosts
Namco Bandai’s Tekken 6 is shipping in a few weeks, giving strategic fighters and people who just like to jam on buttons something to look forward to. Players who like to take the fight to the Internet have plenty more in store for them, too, with the reveal of what the game’s online play features.
First, the boring stuff. Yes, the game will have both ranked and player matches, like virtually every other game that’s been released in the past five or so years. As players battle others online, they’ll also increase their ranking. Also, leaderboards. Now that that’s out of the way, we can get into the good stuff. Players can create and upload ghost characters of themselves, which Namco Bandai says will accurately reproduce an individual’s fighting style. That way, rivals can beat you up online while you’re doing other things such as sleeping, riding a bus or writing Bob slashfic. Players can also save and upload replays of matches, so once you’ve woken up or hopped off the bus, you can watch people gloat about beating up your ghost self.
PlayStation Home enthusiasts can look forward to starting matches from within the lounge and earning furniture and other goodies for personal space. (If a Bob-shaped beanbag isn’t part of the deal, count us sorely disappointed.)
Finally, an all-new mode will be hitting the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 after launch in the form of a free download. The Scenario Online Co-op mode will let two players team up in a campaign against AI enemies that spans the entire globe. Just think: your Bob and your buddy’s weird log thing can set aside their differences and take on the bad guys…together!
