New Mega Man Legends Game In The Works For 3DS

by Jeff Cork on Sep 29, 2010 at 03:16 AM

Rumors about a new Mega Man Legends game have floated around for a while, but now it's official. In conjunction with this morning's Nintendo press conference, in which the final design and pricing for the upcoming 3DS system was revealed, Capcom has announced that a new Mega Man Legends game is in the works for the new handheld platform.

In the video below, Capcom's Keiji Inafune talks about the difficulties he faced in getting the company to revisit the series, which was never a big hit. Once he finally convinced the right people, he says he's devoting much of his energy toward it. "I personally want to be involved with this game more than any other game," Inafune says. There aren't any game details at this point, aside from a few vague--but tantalizing--references. Inafune says that the game is being created under a new style of development, but that he'll talk about it later. In addition, he says that they aren't approaching the project as making a game for the sake of simply making a game, but that he and his team want to make a game for you. OK then.

Masakazu Eguchi, the game's director, had a few things to add on Capcom's blog:

When I and the rest of the staff first heard that were that we were doing this, we were shaking in our boots. All of us were asking our bosses, “Are you guys serious?”

But the proposition was interesting to say the least. So, now here we are making intense preparations and trying to stay on schedule.

...Having said that, there are so many details about the project that I am dying to tell all of you... but you'll have to wait and let your imaginations run wild for just a little longer, until the Comic Con in New York next month!

This should be interesting, to say the least.
