It’s evident NHL 27 is a leap year for the franchise as it doesn’t innovate on the modes and immersion already present. Instead, it soft-launches patches that barely pass as a winter update.
Insomniac once again captures what works about a famous comic book superhero, but that makes this is a very different game from the studio's prior releases in the genre.

The first White Knight Chronicles was a mediocre experience
when it arrived in early 2010, but its sequel shamelessly recycles
content to a degree that has me seriously questioning the abilities of
once-trustworthy developer Level-5.
Mastering this title requires both dedication and skill – but even more
than that, you'll need unearthly perseverance to put up with the
downright crappy UI and technical execution along the way.
Can the father of the FPS reemerge as the powerhouse it once was, or
will it be playing catch-up to the genre’s latest trends? The answer is a
little of both.
The execution is far from flawless, but the $5 price of entry is easily worth it for this trippy peek inside Team Meat artist Edmund McMullen’s psyche.
Gamers who have stayed out of the Tetris loop will be impressed at the variety of modes on display, but Tetris Party fans will recognize much of the content.
