Lara’s Back To Her Old Ways, Some Of Which Happen To Be New

Tomb Raider is joining the prestigious ranks of games like Halo, Star Fox 64, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time by getting remade a second time. Tomb Raider originally released in 1996, but was remade in 2007 with Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Like Anniversary, Legacy of Atlantis is keeping its devotion to the original fairly loose. Lara is still trying to find Atlantis and competing with fellow treasure hunter Pierre DuPont, but her arsenal of tools has expanded (she has the now-iconic axe from the 2013 trilogy), and just about everything else has been modernized.

At Gamescom, I attended a hands-off demo showcasing a level set in Greece featuring the Sword of Damocles trials, where missteps cause swords to fall from the ceiling onto Lara. However, after they fall (and if Lara dodges them successfully), some of them turn into platforms that help her navigate the large puzzle environment.
