Get The Band Back Together

Rock Band 4 was released in 2015, so it’s been more than a decade since anyone genuinely tried to reinvigorate the plastic-instrument rhythm-game phenomenon we all experienced and adored, whether we want to admit it or not. Despite no new traditional Rock Bands or Guitar Heroes in all that time, fandom has continued to percolate around the genre. Fan games like Clone Hero have kept music instrument games alive for the hardcore, and Fortnite even tried to integrate classic Guitar Hero gameplay into its shooter to varying degrees of success.

Stage Tour, however, is more straightforward. RedOctane Games (a name you might recognize as the publisher of the first two Guitar Hero games on Play‑ Station 2) is developing the title, and it aims to emulate the plastic-instrument music game as you remember it. This isn’t an add-on to another game like Fortnite; you don’t need to get involved with the PC modding scene as you do with Clone Hero. Stage Tour is standalone and includes more than 90 songs at launch.
