Stranger Than Heaven

Unlike A Dragon

At The Game Awards 2024, we learned that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio was working on something completely different, yet still somehow familiar. Codenamed Project Century then, summer 2025 saw RGG Studio reveal the title as Stranger Than Heaven. Though on the surface it looks like it could be somewhat in line with what fans have come to expect from the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series that put the studio on the map, some key differences piqued our interest, most notably the ability to play as the same character across multiple eras.

RGG Studio has remained tight-lipped on the project, but it would seem the developer is starting to get antsy to share more. “Compared to entries in the Like a Dragon series, this title will differ entirely in both scale and gameplay,” studio representative and executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama says. “While we can’t say anything yet, the whole development team is already thrilled and full of anticipation. There’s an incredible amount we’d love to share, but for now, we can’t reveal them just yet. That said, I’m itching to share them – it’s getting harder to hold back lately, so I’m being careful not to let anything slip. That’s the kind of situation we’re in right now. All I can promise is that it will be something that will shock and amaze people all over the world. Please look forward to it.”
