Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
Ever since 1995’s Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Mario’s dinosaur steed has made frequent appearances as a standalone protagonist for his own adventures. Despite similar 2D gameplay and recurring mechanics like egg throwing, each entry has never felt like a sequel to the one before it. This is thanks in large part to disparate and attractive art styles. Sometimes Yoshi is made of yarn. Other times, he is made of craft materials. But for the next entry, Yoshi is, at least somewhat, recalling his original 1995 adventure.
In The Mysterious Book, a talking book appears from the sky, appropriately named Mr. E, who invites Yoshi inside his pages to learn about various creatures. Mr. E needs Yoshi to do this because he cannot see his own pages.
