Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Though I believe the Switch generation is the best for the Fire Emblem series, with Three Houses, Engage, and some decent spin-offs leading the charge, I recognize that’s not universal. However, you can’t deny that the Switch introduced Fire Emblem to a wider audience than any console before it. That’s why I’m so stoked Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave not only launches this year but promises to connect to the excellent Three Houses by way of a grown-up Sothis that appeared in the game’s reveal trailer.
Fortune Weave’s lone trailer indicates that everything else about it is brand new, from the Heroic Games held in a Roman-inspired Colosseum to the new characters to the visuals that look like a decent step up from its predecessors. Beyond the Three Houses connection, which is hopefully meaningful, additive, and not a Marvel-like cameo, the most interesting thing about this game to me is that coliseum, or rather, what that coliseum means for this world.
