Horizon Steel Frontiers
Publisher-developer NCSoft, of Guild Wars 2 fame, appeared at G-Star, an annual gaming trade show in Busan, South Korea, in November to reveal Horizon Steel Frontiers. The game is an MMORPG set in Guerrilla Games’ Horizon universe. NCSoft is taking lead on the game’s development, but is collaborating with Guerrilla, who started the series with Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017 and continued it with 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West. Sony Interactive Entertainment, which owns PlayStation, is publishing the game, but don’t expect Horizon Steel Frontiers on PlayStation 5 – it’s being developed with mobile iOS and Android devices in mind while also coming to PC.
NCSoft says the game “builds on Horizon’s signature hunting-action gameplay while introducing advanced MMORPG systems, featuring deeply customizable combat and extensive player freedom.”
While it takes place in the Horizon universe, typically starring Aloy, performed by Ashly Burch, don’t expect to play as her. Instead, you will create your own machine hunter with deep customization, from facial and body features to cosmetic options inspired by tribes and factions from the single-player games.
