Palworld: Palfarm

Palworld is set to become a proper franchise with a spin-off game focused on managing and running a farm. The original Palworld was revealed in 2021 with adorable, capturable creatures who fight and perform tasks for the player, and most curiously, carry firearms. The internet colloquially dubbed it “Pokémon with guns”, and when it launched into early access in 2024, it was a massive hit, boasting over one million sales in less than a day.

Palworld is officially entering 1.0 next year, but it has not been without its controversy. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are openly suing developer Pocketpair, claiming that the game “infringes multiple patent rights.” That lawsuit is ongoing, but Pocketpair is moving forward with its hit franchise and thinking beyond Palworld’s launch.
