Marvel's Wolverine
Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are massive critical and financial successes, but after Spider-Man 2, the developer has shifted its focus to another iconic Marvel hero: Wolverine. Until recently, all we knew about the title came from a vague teaser, but September’s State of Play livestream finally gave us a solid look at this new take on the character. It looks fast-paced, bloody, and intense, but most of all, it looks like Wolverine.
There’s an inherent paradox to Wolverine. While he’s a superhero, a genre of story typically marketed towards the whole family, his superpower could not be more violent, and it’s tricky to depict his full range of abilities in even a PG-13 environment. In this case, fans hoping for an adult portrayal of the character have nothing to fear; the opening seconds of the new trailer dismiss any notion that the game will be anything less than M-rated.
