Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

In the years since the release of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island in 1995, Mario’s dinosaur mount has become a surprisingly reliable delivery method for 2D platformers. Every few years, Yoshi adopts some new, specific, and impressive art style, and moves from left to right, eating enemies, pooping out eggs, and then throwing them. And considering Nintendo are pros at leaping in 2D, they’re always pretty great.

Yoshi’s next adventure on Switch 2 places him in a book that mysteriously appears on his island, which is canonically home to the entire color spectrum of Yoshis. The book, named Mr. E, invites Yoshi inside his pages to learn more about the strange creatures within. Curiously, this is the second time Yoshi’s adventure has taken place inside a book, following the N64 game, Yoshi’s Story.
