Terminator 2D: No Fate
The video game adaptations of the Terminator franchise have followed a similar trajectory to the film franchise. The older, original releases are fondly remembered, but more recent attempts to adapt the franchise have usually left fans wanting more. Developer Bitmap Bureau is attempting to strike a balance by creating a game that evokes a throwback feel, basing it exclusively on the best entry in the film franchise, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
“The game covers the span of that film specifically,” design director and programmer Mike Tucker tells us over email. “Beyond that, we thought it would be interesting to explore the timeline of Terminator 2 outside of the scope of what we actually see in the film.” What that means is there will be some opportunities to play out sequences not seen in the film, like a battle against the Centurion, a gigantic four-legged robot tank that has unexpected origins. “As far as we are aware the first sighting of the Centurion was on the side of the T2 pinball table,” Tucker writes.
