James Bond, the iconic literary hero-turned movie star, has an odd video game trajectory. There have been plenty of James Bond video games, but there is arguably only one that is universally considered great. GoldenEye 007 launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1997, and subsequent attempts to bring Bond to the interactive space have landed on a spectrum of fine to bad. 007 First Light is the first attempt at bringing Bond back to video games in more than a decade, and considering the developer working on it, we’re hopeful for a return to form, even if First Light looks very different from GoldenEye.

IO Interactive has not exclusively made games in its Hitman franchise, but it has mostly made games starring Agent 47. The three most recent games in the franchise, which it gathered together into one experience and dubbed Hitman World of Assassination, are arguably some of the best spy video games ever made, even if you’re not technically playing as a spy. You’re more of a man who performs hits.
