They broke into his home and burn down his village. How do you expect a ninja master to react?

Sega’s upcoming Shinobi title is a bit of a series prequel. Jiro Musashi is the leader of the Oboro clan and father of Joe Musashi – the hero of the original Shinobi games. When a group of villains burn down his home village, Jiro promises revenge.

This game looks like a promising return to the ninja’s 2D glory days as players will get to explore a brand new combo system that will have them switching between melee, ranged and acrobatic attacks on the fly. Players will also be able to use a variety of ninja magics to get out of tight spots during intense fights.

Shinobi releases for 3DS on November 15, 2011.
