Backbreaker: Vengeance
Though the Backbreaker series got called for a false start with a subpar effort on consoles, the series found a much more receptive audience with its Tackle Alley game on iPhone. Now Natural Motion is building on that base with a new Xbox 360-exclusive title.
According to publisher 505 Games, Backbreaker: Vengeance takes the popular minigame foundation and enhances it with "an all-new arcade slant on football." As with the console release, the game uses the physics based Euphoria animation engine to deliver Jacked Up quality tackles. No pre-canned animations here. Much of the gameplay will likely be ported from the popular Backbreaker 2: Vengeance iPhone/iPad release, which added obstacles to the Tackle Alley minigame and allowed players to take the role of a defender.
"Backbreaker: Vengeance for Xbox Live Arcade focuses on the aspects of American football our fans love: incredible euphoria animations, gut-busting collisions, deceptive juke maneuvers and a pick-up-and-play feel," said Natural Motion CEO Torsten Reil in the press release. Check out the trailer below:
Look for the game to break through the line of scrimmage this summer.
