Pokémon Go Players Can Now Purchase New Outfits By Earning Medals

by Suriel Vazquez on Feb 03, 2018 at 01:07 PM

Pokémon Go is adding a trio of new outfits players can buy, but these have a new twist: You have to earn them first.

The new Jogger, Battle Girl, and Fisherman outfits require players to earn their corresponding medals in-game. For Jogger items, players need to travel 10, 100, and 1,000 kilometers to earn three different rewards; for the Battle Girl set, players must win 10, 100, and 100 gym battles; for the Fisherman set, players must catch catch 3, 50, and 300 big Magikarp (indicated by the "XL" on the Magikarp's information screen).

After they've met those requirements, players will still have to pay for the items with in-game currency which can be purchased with real money.

Our Take
I like that this gives medals value beyond bragging rights, but I don't like that you have to earn and pay for them, especially when players have received a number of seasonal items for free. Those should be the ones with a price, not the ones players actually have to do something to unlock.
