Hyperkin Brings Back The Duke Controller In March

by Imran Khan on Jan 12, 2018 at 03:47 PM

The Duke, the original Xbox controller that launched with the system in 2001, was ginormous. Nostalgia is a fickle thing, however, and a lot of people ended up missing the huge controller, especially people with larger hands. Thankfully, they're in luck, as the Xbox One is getting a new version of the Duke with some key changes by the end of March.

The original Duke lacked shoulder buttons, only having two triggers on the back, so the reformed version includes two small shoulder buttons etched into the top corners of the controller. In place of the plastic "jewel" bearing the Xbox logo on the front is an OLED screen which does nothing but play the Xbox startup movie when pressed.

The controller is coming before the end of March for a price point of $69.99 and is compatible with the Xbox One and PC, according to a tweet by Xbox father Seamus Blackley.

Our Take
Fun note: The original Duke was awarded Game Informer's "Blunder of the Year" in the January 2002 issue.
