Star Wars: Episode IX Getting A Rewrite With A New Writer

Disney has altered the deal.

Jack Thorne, a British writer known for theater, television, and film, has been tapped to rewrite the untitled Star Wars: Episode IX before it begins filming next year. 

Director Colin Trevorrow and writing partner Derek Connolly took the first shot at the script over the past year. No word on why Disney is having Thorne rewrite their attempt, but it surely is not in their schedule to rewrite the movie in the next six months. 

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on May 24th, 2019. The Last Jedi, otherwise known as Episode VIII, will release on December 15th, 2017.
