Characters Piccolo And Krillin Revealed For Dragon Ball FighterZ

by Craig Taylor on Jul 18, 2017 at 01:40 PM

Scans of the latest issue of V-Jump reveal that Piccolo and Krillin are the next two characters coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ.

It looks like Piccolo can use his extendable arms to hit opponents from long range (think Dhalism) and can charge his moves for extra damage. He also has a number of guard-breaking abilities and can fire his chargeable beams at high speeds.

Krillin doesn't pack as much power as the other characters, but he has plenty of tools at his disposal. He can attack at a distance with his Kamehameha, confuse his opponents with an Afterimage technique, and can launch his signature Destructo Disc, which is cannot be blocked. He can also control Ki blasts after firing them, altering their trajectory and having them rain down on opponents. Given FighterZ is 3v3, expect Krillin to fulfill some kind of support role beyond just dealing damage.

This news comes right after Trunks' announcement trailer, and the details surrounding the closed beta. The full list of characters includes:

  • Goku
  • Teen Gohan
  • Vegeta
  • Piccolo
  • Krillin
  • Future Trunks
  • Freeza
  • Cell
  • Majin Buu

No release date has been revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ yet, but it is expected to launch in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Our Take
So far, these character picks have been pretty safe. As the roster expands, I'm hoping Arc System Works reveals characters that add gameplay variety, rather than ones that just check off boxes of must-have Dragon Ball characters. Something like a grappling Broly or a teleporting Janemba would offer more to FighterZ than a plain Adult Gohan character build without any defining traits.
