Joss Whedon Set To Write And Direct Standalone Batgirl Film
As reported by Variety, Avengers director Joss Whedon is in talks to write and direct a standalone Batgirl film for the DC Extended Universe of films. While there are currently no producers attached to the project, Toby Emmerich, president and chief content officer of Warner Bros. Pictures Group will be overseeing the production, along with Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. You can read the full article here.
The DCEU has had a tough time turning out films that please fans or critics, despite having talent such as David Ayer or Zack Snyder behind the camera. Hopefully Whedon won't have any problem bringing his trademark mix of wit and charm to a character like Batgirl.
In video games, Batgirl's last major appearance came in the Batman: Arkham Knight DLC "A Matter of Family", which you can read more about here.
