Reader Discussion: Who's Your Favorite Character In The Force Awakens?
Let's face it: Pretty much everyone in the video game industry is already on holiday break, and those who aren't are currently infatuated with the new Star Wars movie. So let's debate who the best character of The Force Awakens is, shall we? WARNING: THIS READER DISCUSSION IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE FULL OF SPOILERS, SO IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE MOVIE THEN WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU CLICKING ON THIS FOR?!
More than anything, The Force Awakens' greatest success is establishing a new cast of interesting characters to go alongside the returning crew that everyone knows and loves. Rey, Finn, and Poe bring new hope (PUN!) and excitement to the Resistance, while Kylo Ren's internal turmoil puts the bland and emotionless villains of the prequels to shame. Heck, even BB-8 won me over, and he's a stupid ball!
Picking a favorite character isn't easy, and while one could certainly make the argument that Han Solo is ultimately the most important character of the film, I'm going with Poe Dameron. Not only does Poe feel like a classic Star Wars character, but actor Oscar Isaac looks like he walked straight off the set of the original trilogy. Opening the film with Poe was the perfect way to reacquaint fans with the universe, and his early (and humorous) interactions with Ren and Finn were all I needed to convince me that The Force Awakens was going to be a fun ride.
