Reader Discussion: What Was Your First Mario Game?

Mario is celebrating his 30th anniversary today. What was your first experience with the iconic plumber?

I played Super Mario Bros. and friends houses and was familiar with the game, but the first Mario game I owned and fully committed to was Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. It may have been my brother's Game Boy and his copy of the game, but I "borrowed" it every chance I got. As a result, I think of the the carrot power-up when it comes to making Mario fly, and a feather recalls the fire power – not the Tanooki suit.
