Bandai Namco's Mappy Land And The NES Dig Dig Available On Wii U Virtual Console

Bandai Namco released two NES games on Virtual Console this week: Mappy Land and the NES port of Dig Dug.

Most are familiar with Dig Dug as it is an Atari and arcade classic, but Mappy Land is a little more obscure. In the game you play as Mappy the mouse as he tries to save his girlfriend Mapico and defeat the evil cat Nyamco, which of course is a play on the name of the developer/publisher that released the game.

Dig Dug will only set you back $1 as it's on sale, but Mappy Land is $4.99.

Our Take
I never played Mappy Land. It sounds like it is a product of the mascot-focused platformer trend that Mario kicked off. Clearly, Mappy never took off or stuck with people.
