Battlefield Hardline Is Getting Another Beta, But EA Isn't Saying When
EA and Visceral are going to be holding another beta for the delayed cops-and-robbers entry in the Battlefield series. The test will include two modes, but we have no idea yet when it will start or how long it will last.
EA says that the test will be open to all five platforms (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC). It will include the vehicle-based Hotwire mode and Battlefield’s 64-player conquest play.
The first beta ran during E3 2014 as a surprise offering on PlayStation 4 and PC. Shortly thereafter, Visceral shared what it learned from the unannounced test period.
The title is due out on March 17 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC. Once we know when you can play, we’ll share the information.
Our Take
It’s nice that EA is confirming modes and platforms, but this announcement feels extremely hollow without even a window of when players can expect the beta. Given the failures of Battlefield 4 and, to a lesser extent, Battlefield 3 before it, this needs to be more than a glorified demo.
