PSA: PlayStation Network Is Down, Sony Engineers Are Investigating
The PlayStation Network is currently down. Sony has acknowledged the error and is currently investigating.
We're aware that some of you are having issues connecting to the PSN. Engineers are investigating.

Players attempting to log on are receiving an error message that says the network is currently undergoing maintenance (error message: NP-35000-8). Players who were already signed on before the error are appeared are apparently not getting booted.
The PlayStation Network is scheduled to receive maintenance on Thursday, January 15. It's unclear if this issue is related to the planned maintenance.
