Marty O’Donnell’s ‘Fanfare For Video Games’ To Premiere At The Game Awards

This weekend, developers, publishers, press, and fans will gather in Las Vegas for The Game Awards. This new event is different than those held in past years, and composer Marty O’Donnell (Halo, Bungie) is providing music to celebrate the medium.
Show producer Geoff Keighley approached O’Donnell to compose a majestic piece in the spirit of Jerry Goldsmith’s “Fanfare for Oscar.” “He convinced me that its time for games to come of age and have their own show that’s like the Oscars and have their own theme,” O’Donnell says in a behind-the-scenes sneak peek.
The full theme will be performed at The Game Awards on December 5. For more on the event, including a list of categories and nominees, check out our previous coverage.
