Assassin's Creed Pirates Goes Free-To-Play
Ubisoft has announced that its naval-focused mobile game, Assassin's Creed Pirates, is now available for free. Alongside this news, the game has also received a content update.
The new content is set in the Arctic Sea, and allows players (assuming the role of captain Alonzo Batilla) to meet a new legendary crew member and buy new upgrades for your ship.
As for the move to free-to-play, the game allows in-app coin purchases, so Ubisoft still has a way to make money from the experience.
Our Take
I don't think I have ever interacted with anyone who plays Assassin's Creed Pirates. Maybe that's because of the cost barrier...in which case, good for Ubisoft for removing that obstruction. However, I think the more likely scenario is that people who are fans of Assassin's Creed prefer the full experience over the mobile translation.
