Report: Amazon's Android Box Coming In March
A multifunctional, Android-powered, set-top device from Amazon, which we first reported on last year, is still in the works. Not only that, but it is reportedly being prepped for a March release.
According to Recode, the WebTV unit is being positioned to compete with Apple TV and Roku. It would allow users to stream Amazon's video content, which has been a growing focus for the company.
The potential applications don't stop there; with Amazon's recent purchase of Double Helix, a foray into unique game development is inevitable. Whether or not this set-top device is also the gaming platform is unclear at the moment... though considering devices like the Kindle are able to have multiple functions, it is certainly possible.

Our Take
Consumers don't have any shortage of options when it comes to watching streaming video content on their televisions. However, Amazon's reach as a juggernaut online retailer puts it in a great position to get a piece of the market...especially considering the fact that its video services are already popular.
