Saints Row IV Sells One Million, Triples PC Sales Of Third Entry
It's been just over a week since Saints Row IV was unleashed onto an unsuspecting world. In that time, publisher Deep Silver and developer Volition have put their purple product in the hands of over one million people.
Furthermore, PC sales in the first week tripled those of Saints Row: The Third, which was released by THQ in 2011. Deep Silver acquired Volition and the Saints Row franchise from THQ's bankruptcy for $22.3 million.
Our Take
Deep Silver's acquisition of THQ's properties was a huge risk for the publisher. It's paying off. Metro: Last Light (also acquired from THQ) was a huge hit, and there will be more titles in that series coming.
Saints Row: The Third was my favorite game of 2011. Saints Row IV is one of the most fun experiences I've had in 2013. I'm looking forward to seeing what the dynamic duo of Volition and Deep Silver come up with for next generation.
