Weekend Warrior 01/04/13
The GI offices are just getting back into the swing of things after taking a few weeks off for the holidays. Thank goodness the weekend is finally here, so we can get back to all those great games we started during the break.
Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I plan on continuing the gaming I started during holiday break. Mainly more open-world antics in Far Cry 3, mediocre dictatorship management in Tropico 4, and poor battlefield strategizing in Valkyria Chronicles. Also, maybe some Minecraft.
Kyle Hilliard: After catching up on a number of games over the holiday break, I will continue my catch-up streak by trying to knock out Resident Evil: Revelations. I grabbed it right when it came out and played about half of it, but wasn’t able to pick it back up until a few days ago. I’m hoping to conquer it this weekend.
Ben Hanson: This weekend I will most likely continue my love affair with Hero Academy. I've been playing this iOS strategy game with Dan Ryckert for a year now and still love every turn. Other than that, I've been playing through the original Paper Mario on the Wii U Virtual Console and have been loving every minute of it. In a desire to play something new on my Wii U though, I've borrowed a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U from the office. I'm relatively pessimistic about the New Mario series, but I'm curious how its creativity holds up when compared directly with the brilliance of Paper Mario.
Tim Turi: I’m currently in the middle of LEGO Lord of the Rings on my 3DS XL (actually quite good!). I also dusted off Rayman Origins after having played a bit of Rayman Jungle Run on my iPhone. I need to play more multiplayer, though. My overarching gaming goals involve finishing up Far Cry 3, giving Borderlands 2 another shot, and maybe starting Darksiders II on my brand spanking-new Wii U.
Andrew Reiner: My stack of unfinished games is no longer so intimidating. This weekend I'm finally going to get around to playing Final Fantasy XIII-2. If that doesn't hold my interest, my backup plan is a second playthrough of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, only this time on a higher difficulty.
Jeff Cork: I finally got around to watching Indie Game: The Movie, which inspired me to pick up Super Meat Boy again. My plan is to beat the game over the weekend. A secondary goal is to beat the game without getting angry enough to smash through a wall like the Kool-Aid Man. We’ll see how that goes. (I’m in the Hell world right now)
