Microsoft Rolls Out Cross-Game Rewards With Avatar Famestar

Similar to its popular achievement system, Microsoft is about to introduce a system called Avatar Famestar that will unlock persistent, cross-game rewards to many of it's XBLA titles.

While playing any Avatar Famestar enable XBLA title, players will earn points for completely Achievement-like challenges. These Avatar Famestar points will then be used to unlock special rewards – likely Avatar clothing and items. Microsoft hopes that this new system will encourage players to compete with one another for social recognition and increase players enjoyment of any give title. Sounds like an interesting idea, but we wonder how exciting those rewards will actually be.

Wreckateer – which launches next week – will be the first game to make use of Avatar Famestar, but Microsoft will add support for titles like Full House Poker, and A World of Keflings as well as upcoming titles like Fire Pro Wrestling, Homerun Stars, and Avatar Motocross Madness.
