New Super Mario Bros. 2 Getting DLC

Nintendo said New Super Mario Bros. 2 is getting download content in the form of challenge "Coin Rush" stages. The additional stages will be available for an unknown price sometime after the game launches on August 19.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime promises these levels will only be made after the game ships and that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be a fully featured game. These Coin Rush stages are built around the idea of collecting as many coins as possible. Players can also challenge each other through StreetPass where they'll play three random courses back to back and compare scores.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is being offered as a full-game download and at retail the same day. Check out the trailer below to see some of the game's new features.
