Do You Want To See Space Combat In Mass Effect 3?
I've been playing so much of BioWare's excellent Star Wars: The Old Republic this week that my gamer friends have told me that I should "take a break and go outside or something." I wouldn't say I'm addicted, per se, but I am having problems keeping track of time as I quest and do horrific things to stupid Republic characters. One of the nicest surprises for me, which I somehow managed to avoid seeing at all during the game's lengthy development cycle, are the space battles, which are basically designed like the first Star Fox game.
These on-rails sequences pump out excitement (not to mention experience points) and do a fantastic job of bringing my favorite aspect of Star Wars to the MMORPG space. After completing my first space battle mission, I started thinking about how this gameplay could be applied to Mass Effect, a series that offers different vehicle based gameplay in each passing installment. While I wouldn't mind hopping around on planets in the bouncy Mako again, space battles against the Reapers with Joker piloting the Normandy would be awesome, unless of course we find out he's a horrible pilot in stressful situations.
Would you like to see this type of gameplay incorporated into Mass Effect 3 or a future installment? If not, what other vehicle gameplay do you think would fit the mix? The first game had the Mako. The Hammerhead was next. Could a Great White be the third?
If you haven't seen the The Old Republic's space combat in action, you can check it out right here.
