Surprise! Modern Warfare 3 Made A Whole Lot Of Money

In a decidedly unsurprising press release today, Activision has announced that Modern Warfare 3 made a whole lot of money. One billion dollars to be precise, and in the short timeframe of 16 days. In the process, the game also holds the distinction of topping Avatar's record of making a billion dollars in 17 days.

"Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world" said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.  "Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences."

While many keep wondering when the series will peak, it's obvious that this isn't the year.
