Weekend Warrior 11/25/11
We’re still too stuffed with Turkey to move. Good thing we have a large stack of games to play during this extended holiday weekend. What are you doing with your time off? And if you didn’t get time off, how do you feel about that?
Dan Ryckert: All weekend, I'll be playing Zelda with my sister by day, and going to the bars with my dad by night. Also, lots of Kansas City BBQ.
Joe Juba: I've beaten the main campaign and several guilds in Skyrim, so I think I'm going to put that aside until January. That leaves me more time this weekend to finally finish Arkham City. I feel like I'm getting to the end of that one, too, so maybe I'll be able to start up Uncharted 3…assuming I can get away from my stupid friends and family long enough.
Jeff Cork: I'm up to my knees in Skyrim right now, and I imagine it's going to continue to monopolize my gaming time for a while. I may sneak in some Saints Row in there, too. It is a long weekend after all, so I should be able to cram it in there somewhere. Maybe.
Kyle Hilliard: I’ve got family coming into town to marvel at the cuteness of my new baby, and cook me Thanksgiving dinner. I may be an adult now (maybe) but I still have no idea how to cook a Turkey. Aside from familial obligations, I’ll be making my way through Skyward Sword and seeing if my brother has any interest in Rayman Origins. He’s the only person I know that found all the Kong letters and puzzle pieces in Donkey Kong Country Returns, so I think he will be able to appreciate all that Origins has to offer.
Tim Turi: I’ve spent my last seven levels of Skyrim sneaking around, pickpocketing, picking locks, and just practicing all manner of general thievery. I love it. However, now I feel I must turn back to my mage roots. This Thanksgiving break I need to put aside the Thieves’ Guild for a while and continue my work at Winterhold Academy. I’m not the best mage yet. But… give it time. I also plan to play Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 3. I hope.
Jeff Marciafava: During the extended weekend my primary objectives will be watching football, hanging out with family, and stuffing as much turkey into my stomach as possible. My secondary objective will be to play a bunch of Skyrim. Finally, no more having to quit after a few hours because of work in the morning!
Matt Bertz: After binging heavily on Skyrim over the last couple weeks, I have an Elder Scrolls hangover. To clear my palate, I'm going to spend the Thanksgiving break playing Rayman Origins and Assassin's Creed Revelations. That should help me digest the ridiculous amount of turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy I plan on devouring.
Ben Hanson: This weekend I hope to reach nirvana by alternating back and forth between Skyrim and Skyward Sword. It would be amusing if I were playing Skylanders and Crimson Skies as well while reading DostoevSky, but I'm not a fan of comedy so that won't be happening. I will also be playing a lot of Mario Kart 7, I hate 3D but I have yet to play that game in 2D mode. It looks really good.
Matt Kato: Like everybody else, I'm going to be hitting Skyrim over the weekend. Currently I'm at level 13, and I haven't done too much of the main story yet – which is fine by me. I've got some miscellaneous quests I need to finish up, and I want to do some more random exploring of the countryside. During each gaming session, I've also been playing a game or two of NHL 12. I'm in the playoffs, and it definitely cleanses the palette after Skyrim.
