Report: Parents Let Baby Die While Raising Virtual Child
CNN is reporting that a South Korean couple starved their three-month-old daughter to death to play an MMO at an Internet cafe.
The recently arrested parents allegedly went on 12-hour gaming binges at the cafe and would only feed their child once a day. They were apparently addicted to a free-to-play MMO called Prius Online (pictured above) and spent much time raising a virtual kid they named Anima.
"The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life, because they didn't have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby," said police officer Chung Jin-won in the CNN story. "They indulged themselves in the online game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby."
