New 3D Land Trailer Shows Off Boomerang Mario Suit And StreetPass

Mario might be one of the oldest video game icons, but the little guy never seems to run out of new tricks. In this new video we get a look at the new Boomerang Mario suit, plus some interesting 3DS StreetPass functionality.

It should be no surprise that this new Mario game looks great -- the plumber's been on a hot streak as of late. But it is interesting to see some new wrinkles being added to the mix. The Boomerang Mario is exactly what you'd expect, basically giving Mario a boomerang to throw at enemies. The StreetPass "mystery boxes" depicted also look interesting. They appear to be tradeable items that contain little box-sized gameplay levels which grant you coins and (we're assuming) other items as bonuses for completing them.

The 3DS has been looking for a killer app, and this just might be it.
